This might be without a doubt, one of better restaurants in Montezuma; maybe even Costa Rica - the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was cool calm inviting and relaxing. The small green area in the back is very nice and soothing, with easy access to the beach.

Everything about Sano Banano was incredible. I was blown away with the dinner, I ordered the pineapple rum Chicken and wow. It was amazing. We came for breakfast lunch and dinner multiple times. Happy hour chicken nuggets hit the spot. Their mocha was delicious as well. A great spot and must eat place while you’re in montezuma.

This is a great little hotel in a perfect location in Montezuma Beach. The rooms are clean & comfortable with AC & hot water. They have a shelf with a safe for storage, but not night stands or dressers. The have indoor & outdoor dining areas and they serve a great complimentary breakfast. None of the other hotels offer this that I know. You can also use their sister resort’s (Ylang Ylang) pool & restaurant. This is a great addition. The staff is very friendly & they do everything they can to make sure you enjoy the stay.

We stayed here 3 nights. The hotel is centrally located in town. They provide a delicious breakfast every morning. The hotel & rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. Some traffic noise can be heard & sometimes a bit noisy when locals are celebrating just down the street, but it doesn’t last. The staff are exceptional and work hard to make your stay enjoyable. A huge perk is that you can use the pool at their sister resort Ylang Ylang which is super nice and has a great restaurant.

Very good hotel, excellent value for money. Friendly staff, excellent service, and a delicious breakfast. Best of all: you'll have access to the sister hotel, the Ylang Ylang, which has beautiful facilities and a swimming pool.

Lovely little garden, an array of different dishes to choose from and friendly service. We enjoyed our delicious dinner a lot here. There was a small chlorine smell coming from the fountain, but nothing that was disturbing. I’d definitely recommend having a cocktail or a meal here.

This is the best place to stay in. Montezuma breakfast is included and it is unbelievably good. It's located at the heart of downtown right next to a store the beach, a trip activity coordinator, ice cream store bar and outdoor seating area. The rooms are clean and the AC was unbelievably good. The beds were very comfortable and each room is unique and made the whole experience for our friend group very fun and easy. We had no problems with our stay except the fact that we had to leave. The restaurant attached to the hotel is by far best food you're going to find in Montezuma if not all of Costa Rica. Nothing on the menu Mist it was all 100% grade a bussin gas pack elite tier dining. I will be going back just for the banana pancakes if not anything else and there's so much else about Montezuma that makes it fantastic but like no joke the banana pancakes are the only reason I got my extremely hung over buns out of bed at 7 AM

Sano Banano and Montezuma are one of a kind. If you want to experience the vibes of an ocean/jungle surf town, this is it. Staff is great, restaurant is by far the best in town (try the nachos and a “Mocha Chiller” for dessert). Rent some ATVs right across the street, drive around Costa Rica and experience the tropical life! A must try!

Plenty of vegan and gluten free options and many with good protein sources in the dishes. The food was tasty and at a fair price. We ordered mushroom pasta and tofu curry - it was one if the few times we saw tofu as an ingredient in Costa Rica.

Good service. Clean toilets. Beautiful beach view. Both indoor and outdoor seatings. Parking lot available.

We realized late on the night we were supposed to check-in that we made a mistake in the booking and did a no show. The manager was absolutely fantastic and understanding, she booked us a room for the following night without charging us any penalty. She also found a solution for us to park our car upon arrival. The staff is super friendly, the room wasn't big but functional & cute, we were able to get the included breakfast in a takeaway box in the morning. Great service ! Thank you for a short but lovely stay

We have visited Montezuma 3 times so far and are planning to go again soon. Sano Banano is ALWAYS our place to stay.
We would absolutely recommend it to anyone. The location and the beaches are awesome, too. Also, you only need to run out the door to grab all the necessities from a small supermarket next door. Very useful!

It was very quiet in the restaurant. Not really a pleasant atmosphere. Food was okay, although the fish buritto was not very tasty. Especially a lot of lettuce.
The waiter did his best and was very friendly.

We found this place by accident. It is central, it has parking, good prices, to eat, the rooms are clean, there is one in particular that is for sleeping, and it always seems like night. Breakfasts are included. What it lacks is a swimming pool. Recommended. The girl who helped us was very helpful. Attentive to any request. The receptionists are a little slower.

Wow, the food and service is top notch! That combined with the relaxing surround of the back patio, only completes the pleasant ambiance.

Came here for breakfast on March 3, 2024, and was going to get everything a' la carte, because I wanted refried beans and sour cream with eggs. Well voila, there was the exact order I was looking for: Huevos Rancheros, complete with everything! Except the coffee which I ordered in the large size. Just right and soooo delicious! The service was excellent and very quick with the food!

The only drawback regarding the place is, some of the tables are rickety, wobbly and some, chunks of stone missing or cracked. I guess it may be an authentic rugged, tough look they're aiming for maybe?

When I first came in that Sunday am, the young lady waitress by the doorway was a bit annoyed and acted as if she had something wedged up her....ahhh, rear.... Very unfortunate, she was this frustrated and angry that morning.

But the waiter (didn't get his name) was friendly and very excellent every step of the way! People like my waiter - along with the excellent food and drinks, keep you coming back for more! Thanks whatever your name was!

On Monday my family enjoyed 4 great meals with friendly service at this unique landmark restaurant, and as we left one of the servers invited us back the following night for live music. We returned Tuesday for dessert and drinks, and unfortunately the service and food didn’t match our experience the previous night. The mousse I ordered was a fraction of the size I had seen pass me the previous night, and my drink never arrived. I tried to catch the server’s eye to re-order the drink but she never looked my way and never returned to our table again.

The food is delicious especially the nachos with a generous amount of toppings and piping hot! Also had a rice bowl full of flavour. What stands out the most is how great the staff look after you — so attentive and good sense of humour and a warm inviting ambiance. Highly recommend

Lovely place with great vegan options. They serve Breakfast and Lunch and in the evening you can enjoy drinks in the back yard area. The staff is friendly and quick. I like the place a lot!

You definitely need to be in a no hurry kind of mood when dining here. Montezuma is a sleepy yet bustling community. Everyone is always extremely nice. Though the service definitely takes some time to come around & that's one of the reasons I rate this 4 star, I wish we could give half stars because they're really 4.5/5. The food has always been decent to great, I'd recommend the curry, though I wouldn't say they are exactly consistent. All cocktails have a unique flare. 🙂 One of the top places to eat when in Montezuma. I recommend to dine here 🙂

I stayed here for a weekend and it was exactly what I needed. The location can't be beat. I booked the room without a window and it was like sleeping in a cave (in a good way).

Pros:
Extremely nice staff
Dedicated parking lot
Great water pressure
Extremely walkable (bars, restaurants, and Montezuma Falls)
The restaurant has excellent food (with great vegan options)

The only improvement I can suggest is that I would have loved having a mini fridge in the room.

The ambiance of this place alone is worth stopping for - especially the patio. But the food is another reason to make it a destination. There were four of us, and we all loved our meal. Cosadas are excellent - we had chicken and fish. 😋 Another ordered the Thai style chicken dish and it was tasty with a bite. Greatly enjoyed a well-made gin tonic. Saw a very large iguana - Pepe - in the tree above the patio fountain. He was well-mannered. Wait staff was very friendly with a great sense of humor.
